Episode 1: The U-Boat Peril
The secrets behind the Nazi’s key weapon in the Atlantic, the deadly U-Boat.

The Battle in the Atlantic begins when a U-Boat sinks the passenger cruise liner, SS Athenia. Using a combination of stealth, ruthless crews and devastating torpedoes the U-Boat begins the war as an almost unstoppable force in the Atlantic. However, in February 1941 a captured U-Boat changes the Allies’ fortunes when a working Enigma machine is discovered.

Episode 2: The Battle Continues
It’s 1941 and the struggle for control of the Atlantic Ocean is on a knife edge.

Nazi U-boats are wreaking havoc among the Allied convoys. The Allies fight back with Royal Navy Destroyers, armed to the teeth with anti-submarine weaponry, and Naval Intelligence. At ‘Spy House’ in Buckinghamshire, intelligence officers disguise themselves as German prisoners of war, befriending POWs, with secret ‘Listeners’, picking up information from devices hidden in cells and common rooms.

Episode 3: The Final Showdown
The Battle of the Atlantic reaches its epic conclusion.

The Allies are planning their D-Day landings; the Atlantic must be under their control for it to succeed. In May 1943, the Nazis send a large group of U-Boats towards a convoy with orders to carry out a massacre. The Royal Navy fight the Nazi U-Boats in a brutal showdown that lasts several days, a turning point that ultimately decides who will emerge victorious in the Battle of the Atlantic.
