Episode 1: Italy and Germany
Katya visits Italy and Germany to explore how they’re adapting in the turbulent new world.

Katya Adler travels to Italy and Germany to explore how the changing global political climate is affecting Europe. In Siena, she witnesses the famous Palio horse race, which proves surprisingly relevant to understanding how Italy works. Then she travels to a German Volkswagen car factory wrangling new tariffs, before heading south to visit a family who are building a house with a nuclear bunker.

Episode 2: Germany and Spain
Katya travels to Germany and Spain to see how they’re coping with the current climate.

Katya Adler is in Germany’s Bavarian mountains, a land of romance and fairytale. From there, she travels to meet the mayor of Kallstadt, the ancestral home of the Trump family, before heading to America’s largest airbase in Europe. Moving to Spain, Katya begins in the region of Catalonia, where she witnesses an extraordinary local custom, the building of towers made of people.

Episode 3: Spain and France
Katya continues her journey through Spain and France to gauge the current political mood.

In Spain, Katya trains with firefighters and learns how the country is spending billions to fight climate change. In Madrid, lawyer Victor Cortizo explains how Spain, unlike many other places in Europe, is welcoming China’s growing interest in their country. Katya then visits Paris to hear from people about France’s generous welfare state, before meeting farmers fed up with European regulation.
