Season 2

Episode 1: The Kick-Off
Alan and Amanda realize their potential Italian dream home might be a project too far.

Comedian Alan Carr purchases a dilapidated 17th-century house with a medieval watchtower in a Tuscan hamlet. He ropes in best friend Amanda Holden to transform it into an Italian dream home. However, arriving at the property, they discover it’s been left empty since the previous owner passed away. Full of damp, and with rotten floors, it dawns on them that a massive restoration job lies ahead.

Episode 2: The Living Room
There are problems with damaged windows and fun on a zip-wire for Alan and Amanda.

Best pals Amanda and Alan take on their first major renovation project, transforming the old dining room into a Tuscan living room. They find the windows of their 17th-century home are unsalvageable and must be made from scratch. Luckily, another old feature can be saved, the original chestnut ceiling beams. It’s not all hard work though, as they face their fears on a 1,500-meter-long zip wire.

Episode 3: The Garden
Amanda and Alan face their biggest challenge yet as they tackle the overgrown garden.

Amanda and Alan aim to tackle the garden, an overgrown patch of land has been untouched for more than a decade. With no idea of what plants thrive in the Tuscan terrain, the best pals seek advice from a gardening oracle. Amanda calls in her mum Judith to help purchase plants, but gets more than she bargained for when Judith takes a liking to a handsome member of staff.

Episode 4: The Mural
Alan’s creative juices and a nasty case of woodworm cause a few headaches for Amanda.

Alan tackles the first bedroom and doesn’t hold back with his interior design. Inspired by the romance of his favorite city of Florence, he’s determined to have a mural, but Amanda fears his creative juices could turn into a flood. Hoping to restore the furniture that came with the house, Alan soon realizes that it’s riddled with woodworm, so Amanda whisks him to the Gulf of Poets for inspiration.

Episode 5: The Bathroom
It’s the battle of the bathrooms, as Amanda and Alan tackle projects of different sizes.

Amanda and Alan divide and conquer as they renovate the bathrooms. Amanda has big plans for converting one of the medieval tower rooms into a sumptuous, double height en-suite, while Alan has the challenging task of transforming a tiny space into a minimalist wet room. Things don’t get off to the best of starts, as Alan has issues dismantling an old toilet, and Amanda’s dreams come crashing down.

Episode 6: The Bedroom

Amanda meets her match as she aims to turn the dark second bedroom into a country chic boudoir, inspired by the Tuscan sunrise. To help bring her interior design vision to life, local friends Luca and Alessandro invite s them to visit their 19th century farmhouse. Keen to create a piece de resistance, Amanda builds a bespoke headboard and takes her first steps into the world of upholstery.

Episode 7: The Cinema
The DIY duo face their biggest challenge yet as they transform a tower room into a cinema.

Amanda and Alan face their biggest DIY challenge yet, as Alan aims to transform the medieval tower room into a movie theatre, while Amanda tries to turn the damp-ridden cellar into a wine grotto. Hitting a brick wall with their interior design ideas, Alan takes Amanda to a winery to meet descendants of Mona Lisa, who reveal their ancient cellars and offer a tasting of their world- famous wines.

Amanda purchased two dilapidated apartments and has convinced her best friend Alan to spend a summer restoring them. Arriving at the crumbling property for the first time, and seeing the piles of trash and junk, it dawns on them that this is no vacation.

Amanda’s unconvinced about Alan’s bidet and Alan tries to veto Amanda’s disco ball installation. But with firm ideas of what they want, neither will back down on their vision.

Episode 4: The Bedroom
Alan visits a majestic 300-year-old palazzo to inspire his ‘rustic chic’ bedroom design.

As the ambitious home renovation project continues, Alan takes charge of the first bedroom. But doubt soon sets in as Amanda struggles to get on board with his artistic vision. To nail his ‘rustic chic’ look, Alan visits interior designer Marie at her 300-year-old palazzo and gets Amanda to source vintage gems at Palermo’s famous flea market. But haggling in Italian isn’t their greatest strength.

Episode 5: The Courtyard
Amanda and Alan try to transform their scruffy courtyard into a Mediterranean oasis.

Amanda and Alan turn their attention to the outside of their home renovation project as they aim to transform the scruffy courtyard into a Mediterranean oasis. To brush up on their botany, they visit the magnificent gardens of one of Sicily’s biggest wine producers. As a reward for helping with the grape harvest, they are wined and dined and given a surprise serenade by the owner, Jose.

Episode 6: The Master Bedroom
Amanda brings a slice of Hollywood glamor to Sicily as she takes on the master bedroom.

As the home renovation project continues, Amanda aims to bring a slice of Hollywood glamor to Sicily with a banana leaf-patterned design for the master bedroom. Alan is concerned that Amanda’s camp theme is on the wrong side of tacky, so she takes him to visit one of Palermo’s most prestigious hotels to show how exuberant décor has enticed high-profile guests including composer Richard Wagner.

Episode 7: The Dining Room
Amanda and Alan’s plans to create an open-plan living and dining room run into trouble.

Amanda and Alan face their final home renovation challenge as they join forces to complete the last two rooms. But their dream of creating an open-plan living and dining room is threatened when they discover problems with the main structural wall. Wanting to make the rooms feel as authentic as possible, they take a boat trip along the stunning Zingaro nature reserve to get inspiration.

Episode 8: The Farewell
Alan and Amanda finally reveal their labor of love with an emotional farewell party.

Alan and Amanda are on the home stretch of their home renovation project as they take on the interiors of their living and dining room. Many hands make light work as they invite local friends over for a plastering party, but things soon get out of hand as a spillage nearly ruins their newly laid terrazzo floor. Then, they finally reveal their labor of love, throwing an emotional farewell party.
