Episode 1: Bigness
Griff Rhys Jones starts his Canadian journey in Newfoundland with moose and much partying.

Celebrated British comedian Griff Rhys Jones starts his epic Canadian journey by visiting Newfoundland. He tries to get to grips with the hugeness of Canada by looking for moose, discovering the iron ore mining history of the area, shooting St. John’s time gun, sampling both traditional and unusual Newfoundland food and trying to behave himself at a traditional kitchen party.

Episode 2: Frenchness
Griff Rhys Jones tries to get to grips with French Canada via poutine and ice hockey.

Griff Rhys Jones continues his journey across Canada, heading to Quebec and Montreal to experience the French-Canadian way of life. This includes trying poutine, a delicious if calorific Canadian delicacy. He then gets a taste for maple syrup and tries to understand the nation’s obsession with ice hockey. He discovers that the history and culture of the area has helped shape multicultural Canada.

Episode 3: Niceness
Griff Rhys Jones begins his exploration of Ontario and ponders why Canadians are so nice.

Canadians have a reputation for being nice. But is it deserved? Griff Rhys Jones begins his exploration of Ontario at Niagara Falls, right on the U.S border, to uncover what it is that makes Canadians so charming and how they differ from their southern cousins. He pops into a film set in Toronto and explores a few of the region’s impressive forested national parks.

Episode 4: Coldness
Griff explores the frozen wilds and visits a town with more polar bears than people.

British comedian and travel enthusiast Griff Rhys Jones explores the frozen wilds of Manitoba, North Canada and questions how so many can live in such a harsh environment. Venturing from Winnipeg to Churchill, he visits a town considered Canada’s coldest that sometimes has more polar bears than people. He then tries his hand at dog sledding and does his best to keep warm.

Episode 5: Emptiness
Griff explores the prairies and vast plains of both Saskatchewon and Alberta provinces.

Welsh comedian and travel fan Griff Rhys Jones explores the prairies and vast sprawling plains of both Saskatchewon and Alberta provinces. It’s an area that, at first glance, seems largely empty. But Griff soon discovers a land of abundance and riches from ancient buffalo herds to valuable dinosaur fossils and acres of cultivated farmland.

Griff tries to discover what makes Canadians so happy as he visits the Pacific Northwest.

Griff Rhys Jones finishes his journey across Canada in the popular, exciting province of British Columbia in the Pacific Northwest. He discovers what it is about this place that makes the locals, and Canadians in general, so happy. With ski resorts and surfing towns, snow-capped mountains, and the vast Pacific Ocean, it’s a region rich in beauty and diversion.
