Episode 1: Edinburgh and Morar
Alan drags himself away from the train’s luxuries to visit a beloved film location.
Actor Alan Cumming embarks on his journey through Scotland onboard the luxury train The Royal Scotsman. Starting in Edinburgh, he settles into his luscious cabin before being shown around the train’s unique kitchen. Venturing beyond the train, Alan visits the Commando Memorial in Lochaber and then strolls along the Silver Sands of Morar, filming location of the beloved Scottish movie Local Hero.
Episode 2: Bute and Pitlochry
Alan gets treated to some serious spa pampering while surrounded by stunning views.
It’s a journey of contrasts, as Hollywood favorite Alan Cumming continues his travels onboard The Royal Scotsman. He enjoys some serious pampering in the train’s luxury spa. But then he disembarks to take an exclusive adventure trip involving foraging and wild swimming. He also gets special access to the 1623 first folio of William Shakespeare and sees a part of the train usually off limits.
Episode 3: Culloden and Plockton
Alan spots seals, folds napkins and visits the luxury train’s whisky ambassador.
Alan Cumming’s luxurious trip continues as he learns the art of napkin folding before achieving a childhood dream and driving a train along a private railway. He visits the historic site of Culloden and hears of the bloody battle that unfolded on this sacred ground. He spots seals in the picturesque village of Plockton, before the onboard whisky ambassador gives Alan a lesson on the water of life.
Episode 4: Iona and Scone
Alan visits glorious Scottish islands, swaps showbiz stories and finally has a dance.
Actor Alan Cumming swaps his luxury train for the ocean waves as he visits the beautiful Scottish islands of Iona and the legendary Fingal’s Cave on Staffa Island. Back onboard, Alan discovers a familiar face and shares some showbiz stories. He then visits the historic Scone Palace, followed by the trip’s grand finale, a spectacular traditional Scottish ceilidh at an unusual destination
